Nikolai Vashenko


Nikolai Vladimirovich Vashchenko, Russian Николай Владимирович Ващенко (born 1916) - Soviet military pilot, commanding officer of the Armed Forces of the Committee for the Liberation of the Nations of Russia at the end of World War II.

He graduated from Melitopol Air School. Served in Soviet military aviation. At the beginning. The war with Germany was an officer of the 134th Regiment of Rapid Bombers. He was knocked down and then taken to German captivity and imprisoned in a POW camp. In 1943 he collaborated with the Germans. He joined the Russian Liberation Army (ROA). He passed the ROA propaganda courses at the Dabendorf resort. He served in the General Staff of A. Andreas Vlasov as a liaison officer, and since 1944 in the Northern Propaganda Department of the ROA in Riga. At the end of this year, he was a lieutenant in the command post of the Armed Forces of the Committee for the Liberation of the Peoples of Russia. At the end of the war he left for Morocco and then to Australia. In 1974 he moved to the USA.
