Magdalene Islands <Îles de la Madeleine (Magdalen Islands) - a small archipelago of islands in the Bay of Saint Lawrence in Canada. Territories belong to the province of Quebec, although geographically these islands are closer to the province of Nova Scotia, mainly due to the ethnic origin of the inhabitants and to the dominant French language. Their total area is 205.53 km². The first European on the islands was Jacques Cartier arrived here in 1534.
