Phase I
Fazael I (born 77 p.n., 40 p.n.) is Herod the Great's brother.
He was the eldest son of Antypatra, the governor of Idumea, and Kypros I; the brother of Herod the Great, Joseph II and Feroras. At 47 p.n. became a strategist of Jerusalem and its surroundings. He contributed to unravel the Malichos conspiracy. At 41 p.n.e. Phazael and Herod were nominated by Mark Antony as tetrarchs. Deceptively arrested by the Parthians, he was handed over to King Judea Antigone. In one version he committed suicide, according to another failed suicide attempt.
