Statolatry (with statue and Latin latrine - worship of divine) - worship of a centralized state and all-powerful state authority.

The first term was used by Giovanni Gentile in the Doctrine of Fascism published in 1931, signed by Mussolini. The term was popularized and explained by Ludwig von Mises in his 1944 work Omnipotent Government.

In the ideology of Italian fascism, the statolatria was supposed to be a pararelian cult of the state, which aimed at unifying Italian Catholicism and respect for the Fascist regime.
