Independent Culture Committee - a committee created at the beginning of the State of War and operating from 1982 to 1989 as a continuation of the Cultural Commission, functioning in 1980 - 1981 in the Mazovian Region of NSZZ "Solidarność". The chairman was Janusz Ściskalski, and the secretary of Teresa Bogucka, who in 1982-1989 was next to Kazimierz Dziewanowski and Małgorzata Łukasiewicz, in the close circle of people who had the funds transferred from the West to independent cultural initiatives.

The work of the Committee was attended by people representing the main artistic areas. Andrzej Osęka and Aleksander Wojciechowski, literature - Kazimierz Orłoś, music - Tadeusz Kaczyński and Krzysztof Knittel, the theater - Kazimierz Kaczor and Marta Fik, who also served as editor-in-chief of "Independent Culture" - published by the publishing house " Daybreak "of the monthly, which is a kind of organ of the Committee of Independent Culture.

The Independent Culture Committee supported art exhibitions, home theater presentations, Christian Culture Week initiatives. In all areas of culture, the Solidarity Prize was awarded.

After the death of Andrzej Kijowski, who initiated the funding of the "Trial" Independent Committee on the Culture of Culture, the Committee decided to establish the " Andrzej Kijowski.

In 1989 the financial report on the work of the Independent Culture Committee was accepted by an independent group composed of professors: Tadeusz Kielanowski, Bohdan Korzeniewski and Stanislaw Lorentz. External sources
