Józef Leszczyński, ps. Chmurner (born 1884 in Horodicz, died 1935 in Warsaw) - Polish socialist activist and columnist of Jewish origin, brother of Jakub Leszczyński.
He studied in Paris. In 1903 he joined the left-wing circle of Zionist youth in Warsaw. He was one of the founders of the Jewish party, Poale Zion, and then a member of its Central Committee. He represented her in 1917 in the Council of Ukraine and the Jewish National Council. In 1921 he returned to independent Poland. He joined the Bund, where he became a member of the Central Committee and the main ideologist of the leftist party. He was a member of the Central Board of the Jewish School Organization (CISZO), where he was mainly involved in establishing Jewish lay schools. After the death of Beichnis Michalewicz assumed the post of chairman of this organization. He was the editor of Naje Folkscajtung and Di Bicherwelt.
He is buried in the Jewish cemetery at Okopowa Street in Warsaw (quarters 31, row 2). After his death, many schools established by the Bund adopted a pseudonym for his name. Bibliography
