Silesian school of composers
Silesian School of Composers - a circular definition of a multi-generational group of outstanding Polish composers associated with the State Higher School of Music (present-day Academy of Music) in Katowice. The composers of Bolesław Szabelski (also the virtuoso of the organ), one of the first pre-war teachers of the Academy of Fine Arts, and Bolesław Woytowicz (also a pianist) are considered by the composers.
The school consists of their pupils: Wojciech Kilar, Jan Wincenty Hawel, Ryszard Gabrysia, Witold Szalonek, Józef Swidor, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, and their pupils: Eugeniusz Knapik or Aleksander Lasonia. Bibliography
