Sudestada


Sudestada (west bump) - the wind in the Río de la Plata area from the south-east, bringing the violent air of the Atlantic from the cold air.

It is most commonly found in the autumn and winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Often causes flooding and sudden rainfall. Approximately 90% of the winds from the south east are observed between April and October. Sudestada is associated with a horn located at central Patagonia and lower than in the west of Uruguay. They usually last 1-3 days.
