Blockführer


Blockführer (Block Block), block officer (block officer), official of Division III (Camp) in the structure of the Nazi concentration camps. He ran one of the prisoners and was responsible for the prisoners assigned to him. He was a Rapportführer.

His duties included:

The special function was called. Blockführer on duty at the entrance gate of the camp. He was responsible for recounting the columns of the prisoners at the march and returning them to the camp. Also obliged to refrain from entering the camp for unauthorized persons. The Blockführers were members of the concentration camp staff, with whom the prisoners had direct contact. Many of them were criminals, including Kurt Hugo Müller and Stefan Baretzki (both Auschwitz-Birkenau), Simon Kierna (Dachau) and Erich Miessner (Mauthausen-Gusen). Bibliography
