Krzysztof Lis


Krzysztof Aleksy Lis (born 18 August 1948, died 31 January 2005) is a Polish economist, co-founder of the Polish capital market.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Lodz, defended his doctorate in economics. In 1977-1989 he worked at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw; He worked as an economic expert and president of a consulting firm.

1989-1990 Government Plenipotentiary for Ownership Transformations. In the years 1990-1991 the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Privatization, first Deputy Minister Waldemar Kuczynski. Organizer of the Government Plenipotentiary Office, co-creator of the privatization laws, co-organizer of the privatization of the privatization ministry, privatization programs and in cooperation with Jack Chwedoru, the first privatization and stock market debuts.

He later advised ministers (including Leszek Balcerowicz) and experts from international organizations (the World Bank and EBRD). He advised on the privatization of the governments of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. In 2003, as a member of the board of the International Business Institute in Kiev, he advised privatization of the then Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko.

In Poland, he created and managed the Institute of Business Development, which educates Polish managers. He initiated and organized Forum Corporate Governance. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Warsaw Stock Exchange Board, and since the summer of 2004 he has been an independent member of PKN Orlen's Supervisory Board.

He died in a car accident.
