Tigranes III

Tigranes III (orm: Տիգրան Գ) - King of Armenia in the 1920s p. - 8 r. P.n.e. of the Artaskid dynasty. Son of Artawazdes II.

He stayed in Alexandria as a Roman hostage, which in the times of the empire was often practiced against the families of the countries subject to Rome. In 20 r. P.n.e. Part of the Armenian aristocracy sent a petition to the Emperor Augustus asking for a photo of the throne of Artaxes II. The emperor agreed and sent Tiberius with the army to remove the king. Before his arrival Artaxes II was assassinated, which allowed Tigranes to take the throne without a fight.
