Cape Henry
Cape Henry seen from the plane
Cape was named in 1607 by Christopher Newport, who near it landed with the expedition of the Company of London, a division of the Wirgi Company, after 144 days of travel from England. The name of the cape comes from the name of Henry Frederick Stuart, Prince of Wales, and the landing site is now commonly referred to as The First Landing. A group of 104 colonists who traveled with Newport later that year set up James River, Jamestown, the first permanent settlement of English colonists in North America.
