North Siberian Lowlands (Siewiero-Sibirskaja nizmiennost) is a vast lowland in the Asian part of Russia, between the mouth of Jeniseju in the west and the Lena River in the east, and the Byrranga Mountains and the Arctic Sea in the north and the Central Siberian Highlands in the south.
Length of about 1800 km, width to 600 km.
The cover surface is a Mesozoic marine sediment and glacial formations. Hilly terrain, with hills of over 500 m. Numerous wetlands and lakes min. Lake Tajmyr. Vegetation tundra, in the south, passing into lasotundra. According to some sources, the Lower Siberian Plain is also situated to the east of the lowlands, up to the mouth of the Kolyma River: the Jańsko-Indygirska lowlands and the Kołymska lowland.
It forms an extensive tectonic foothill, filled with Mesozoic sediments and younger, located to the north of the Central Siberian Highlands. The plain area is flat, covered with a thicker layer of glacial sediment. There is subpolar climate, vegetation is represented by tundra, in the south lasotundra. Numerous lakes and marshes are associated with the eternal frost. The area is dewatered by Piasin, Chatanga, Anabar. In the eastern part of the lowland, it flows directly to the Sea of Lapin, and in the west lies the southern part of the Tajiks Peninsula.
