Spiny roots
Root roots of elongated elms Root swarms of five-pound downy
Root roots, apical roots, rooted roots - strongly laterally flattened roots growing horizontally from the root of the tree trunk. Their initially concentric increments are subject to modification over time, and over time they grow to a height primarily upwards, resulting in narrow, perpendicular to the trunk and expanding down the slat. They grow in trees with shallow root systems, usually growing in damp habitats, poorly aerated or with nutrients concentrated in a shallow soil layer. These roots improve the statics of trees, especially the wind resistance.
Spruce roots are characteristic for trees growing in humid equatorial forests (eg, Ficus, Parkia, Sterculia). In Central Europe, the root of the lesser rooted beetle has a common root, sometimes hornbeam.
