Abrasive (dentistry)

Abrazja - in dentistry is a relatively new method of treatment for tooth decay, involving the removal of caries using an air stream enriched with an alumina abrasive load of varying granularity. The powder-air mixture emitting from the nozzle striking the damaged tooth surface causes the kinetic energy of the shock wave and the load to be transferred, the caries of the enamel and dentin teeth removed from the tooth surface and thrown out of the tooth. Repeating this cycle repeatedly causes complete elimination of caries from this tooth.

Aluminum oxide, depending on the mass of the grain, at various rates cleanses the carious tissue defect, acts in a multifocal cavity while maintaining a normal dentin structure, because it does not destroy the so- Not only does it not cause injury to the site, but it also saves you by leaving the toothless components of the dentine structure untouched. At the same time it is a method of tooth tissue preparation devoid of such elements as pain, vibration and overheating of the developed tissues.

In addition, the use of powder kinetic energy on one side and the ability to calibrate the nozzle tip on the other hand allows for minimization of the treatment area, which can not be achieved by the conventional method of drilling. An additional aspect of the superiority of the abrasive method over drilling methods is the cleanliness of the abrasive operating field, completely devoid of such elements as oil and oil-water spray from the catheters and turbine straighteners. The abrasive treatment area is not only dry and clean, but also deprived of enamel microspheres, which improves the retention of fillings as well as the distant secondary tooth.

The abrasive device is called the abrasor.
