Akim
Akim Akim Abuakwa and Akim Kotoku (from the 18th century) - a former African state existing in the south-east of Ghana, formed in the second half of the 17th century.
Between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Akwamu competed for control over trade with European merchants. It was defeated in 1733. Then it began to decline, and the Asheras took possession of it (1745). In 1826 it was re-established and the British helped it. In 1896, after the collapse of the Asiatic state, it was included in the British protectorate. Bibliography
