Alexander (daughter of Jan Hirkan II)


Aleksandra (d. 28/27 p.n.) - a Jewish princess of the Hasmoneus dynasty.

She was the daughter of Jan Hirkan II, the Judean king and later High Priest. She married her brother Alexander, son of the king and high priest Aristobulus II. The son of Aristobulus III and his daughter Mariamme I. were married in this marriage. She was widowed in 48 BC.

At 35 p.n. She lost her son, who was sunk at the request of her son-in-law, Herod the Great. A few years later, Herod ordered Judge Mariamme I. He was murdered soon after the death of his wife. Bibliography
