Charlemagne XII
Charles XII's cavalry squad - the squadron of King Charles of Sweden, Charles XII, formed in the years 1699-1709, composed of cavalrymen.
The dwarves, as a palace guard, were present at the court of the Swedish kings from the 15th century. When young Charles XII entered the throne, he decided to rearrange the guards. From then on they were the elite cavalry division.
The formation was initially 200 people, later at least 150. They were therefore not able to conduct independent actions, but they were exemplary as support units.
One of the most important tasks of the formation was the function of the higher officer school. The promotion depended solely on the will of the king, which at his system of values meant that, apart from courage and bravery, the soldier had to demonstrate steadfastness and honesty.
The squadrons of the Swedish army were full of service, officers were lieutenants and colonels, and the commander of the unit was a general. The first commander of the unit was Arvid Horn, Karl Gustaw Wrangel and Otto Magnus Wrangel.
The survivors contributed to the maintenance of the left wing wing of the Swedish army during the crossing of the Daugava River in 1701 and the victory at Kliszow in 1702. They participated in all major battles until the battle of Poltava in 1709, destroyed.
Charles XII has not decided to reactivate the formation. For Gustav III the formation was restored, but in the form of a palace guard. Bibliography
