Gemella haemolysans


Gemella haemolysans - is a globular bacterium found most commonly in respiratory secretions. The cell wall is constructed similarly to Gram (+), but Gram stains are stained. It grows on oxygen or anaerobic substrates in the temperature range of 22 to 37 ° C. On the medium with blood causes β-hemolysis.

Until 1988 it was the only species of the genus Gemella, but genome studies have increased the genus of Gemella morbillorum. Bibliography
