Karol Turno


Karol Turno (born May 7, 1788 in Warkowicz on Volhynia, died March 10, 1860 in Objezierz) is a military participant in the November Uprising.

He graduated from the Military Technical Academy in Vienna. From 1807 he served in the Austrian army. In 1809 he joined the Army of the Duchy of Warsaw and as an adjutant General Casimir Turno held an Austrian campaign. In 1811 the master degree. He participated in all the campaigns of 1812 - 1814.

From 1815 in the army of the Kingdom of Poland as a driving instructor, auxiliary adjutant of Prince Constantine. Promoted to the rank of colonel.

In 1830, he was awarded the Honorary Sign for 15 years of service.

After the outbreak of the November uprising, Duke Konstanty escorted the Polish king to the border, and officially reported his return to the uprising to fight against Russia (Tsarevich accepted his conduct). Initially he was involved in the reorganization and expansion of the insurgency drive. From February 1831 the head of her staff.

Appointed in May 1831 as commander of the Brigade. From June, the Brigadier General of the Division of Riding. He participated in the failed expedition and defeat of insurgent troops under Łysobykami. He saved the honor of the Polish fire under the Budziskami. Wounded in battle. At Szelkow, he broke three Cossack regiments, and he fought with I. Paskiewicz at Raciąż.

After the capitulation of Warsaw, it remained "for the sake of health". Sent to Russia in the depths of Perm.

He returned in 1833 and settled on a farm in Grodno, later with his family at the estate of Objezierze in Poznań, where he died. Housed in the crypt of the family Turns in the church. St. Bartholomew the Apostle in Objezierz. Bibliography
