Friedrich Strohmeyer
Friedrich Strohmeyer (or Stromeyer) (born 2 August 1776 in Göttingen, died 18 August 1835) is a German chemist.
Between 1793 and 1799 he studied medicine, and in 1800 he earned his doctorate in medical science; student of L. N. Vauquelin. From 1806 he was director of the chemical laboratory and lecturer at the University of Göttingen, from 1817 professor of chemistry and pharmacy in Hannover. He also served as General Inspector of Hanoverian pharmacies. In 1817 he discovered the cadmium in the ashes remaining after the zinc was smeared from his carbonate.
