Language cycle
Language cycle - a chain of languages, groups or language families.
A loose set of languages created by direct contact between them. Transparent belts are produced at the sites of strongest contacts, where languages display features from both groups.
The characteristic feature of cycles is the occurrence of more transitional "cells" along with moving forward on the geographical map of languages. Intermediate language groups are intermediate groups between two neighboring languages. Examples of language cycles Bibliography
