Synopsis
Synopsis - a form of publication that combines parallel texts from various literary works. It is the basic tool for comparing similar texts. Synops are most often used in biblical literature, but not limited to biblical and Christian texts.
The most popular are the synoptic Gospels - that is, the synoptic Gospels, along with some passages from the Gospel of John. They are issued either in the original language or in national translations. In Poland in the twentieth century five Polish synopsis appeared: Other synoptic bibles include similar books, eg 1-2 Book of Kings and 1-2 Book of Chronicles. In 2002 the Greco-Polish-Latin Synopsis of the First and Second Book of Maccabees was published by Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki. He compared the texts of both these books and the corresponding passages of Joseph War's "Jewish Wars" and "Jewish Antiquities." This is the first publication of its kind in the world.
There are interreligious synops, such as the Bible and the Koran. Synopsis of common traditions (by Johann-Dietrich Thyen, translation by: Marek M. Dziekan, paper by Marek M. Dziekan, Paweł Pachciarek, Verbinum, Warsaw 2002. ISBN 83-7192-167-5). < p>
