Town Hall in Racibórz - a building located in the center of the Market, then on the corner of the Market Square. For many years there was the seat of the city authorities. Destroyed after the Second World War. History

In the middle of the Market there was the town hall, which was mentioned in documents from 1361. However, it is not known when exactly moved to another place, but it is assumed that it was 1722, because it burned in a fire. The birth of the new town hall is not known. The document mentions that in 1724 the town hall of massive construction and covered with shingles consisting of two storeys stood at the corner of the Market Square and the present Dominican Square. There was also a large town hall cellar in which was an inn. The entry from the land register comes from 1829 and says it was owned by the municipality. But this building has also been destroyed.

The new town hall was built in the classicist style by Gottlieb Tschech. This investment amounted to a total of 19 043 talars. On Saturday 14 May 1825, the cornerstone of the new town hall was laid. The building was completed in 1826, because according to records the city council moved to a new building in December of that year. The town hall occupied the area from half of today's jeweler's shop to the entrance of Dominikański Square. Funds to cover the investment were obtained from the oak forest cut between Płonia and Nieboczowami. The building suffered during World War II and was demolished. Bibliography
