Alan Heusaff
Alan Heusaff, Pierre-Alain Heussaff (born July 23, 1921 in Saint-Yvy, November 3, 1999 in Spiddal) is a Bretonian linguist, columnist and national activist, member of Bezen Perrot during World War II. Curriculum vitae
He graduated from the École Normale in Quimper and then worked as a primary school teacher. In 1938 he joined the Nationalist Breton Party (PNB). Soon he became a member of the Kadervenn paramilitary militia. He participated in the same year in secret military exercises of members of Kadervenn in the area of Lanvaux in the south of Brittany. In 1941-1942 he was the author of propaganda articles under the pseudonym "Mab Ivi" in the writings "l'Heure Bretonne" and "Arvor". At the same time he became a member of the revived PNB Bagadoù Stourm. In December 1943 he joined the collaborative armed formation of Bezen Perrot under the command of Célestin Lainé, fighting the Communist and Gaullist guerrilla. He became commander of 2 sections. In the summer of 1944, the allied troops came to Germany.
At the end of the war, along with some of his comrades, the guns broke into Ireland. In 1950 he began his studies at the University of Dublin. He worked in the national meteorological service. In 1959, with Yann Fouérém, he began publishing Breton News (renamed in 1972 to "Carn"), addressed to Breton nationalists in exile. In 1961, together with Y. Fouérém and several Irish activists, Plaid Cymru co-created the Celtic League, which was to promote and coordinate national movements from all Celtic countries. He became Secretary General and then Secretary of Foreign Affairs, working with the Celtic Diaspora all over the world. In 1980 he returned to Brittany, after the death of C. Lainé. In the 1990s he was in favor of the Celtic federation within the European Union.
