Chemical indicators


Chemical indicators - chemical compounds or mixtures thereof, capable of changing their physical properties under the influence of changes occurring in the surrounding environment. Observation of these changes allows for indirect observation of various phenomena that would be difficult to identify without indicators.

Most often chemical indicators change their color, but they may also change the electrical conductivity of the solution or cause a clear turbidity at a particular point in time.

Chemical indicators are used extensively in chemical analysis, molecular biology, medical diagnostics, and environmental pollution detection.
