European Soil Database


European Soil Database, the European Soil Database, is a database of information on the soils of the Member States of the European Union and neighboring countries. It provides the possibility of creating interactive maps containing data that characterize eg the structure of soils and their substrates, the density of the upper part of the soil, the content of organic carbon, the cation exchange potential, the potential water capacity, the depth of the impermeable layer, the depth of the substrate.

The European Soil Database is part of the European Soil Information System (EUSIS), created at the Institute for Environment and Sustainable Development, a specialized research unit of the Joint Research Center at the European Commission.
