Kobong Kyŏnguk

Kobong Kyŏnguk (고봉 경욱, born 1890, died in 1961, 고봉) is a Korean champion.

As a child, he practiced Buddhism in the Namjang monastery. He became the disciple and heir of the Dharma Master Mangonga Wŏlmyŏna.

Just as his teacher was famous for his surprising and unconventional activities; People never knew if he was enlightened, but he never was defeated in Dharma fight. He always kept a pure mind.

He taught only lay people and nuns because he considered them to be more determined and committed to the monks.

He gave only one Dharma message for the monk Sŭngsan (Seung Sahn).

He also raised several nuns who became bishops of famous female monasteries: Songil, Kyeju (died 1975) and Sedung. Dharma transmission line
