Safed Koh (hist. Paropamis) - the mountains lying on the territory of Afghanistan being the western extension of the Hindukusha. Their largest peak is Kuh-i Hisar (3588 m n.p.m.).

The mountains of Safed Koh consist mainly of Mesozoic slate and limestone and tertiary conglomerates and sandstones produced in Alpine orogeny. At the foot of the mountain there is mainly semi-arid vegetation, which in slightly higher parts passes into pistachio and juniper forests, even higher above the mountain formations.
