Ah, poor crib

Ah, a poor manger - Polish carols. Author unknown words. The first verse was written in the canteens of the mid-seventeenth century, another can be found in the songbook Mioduszewskiego from 1838 entitled Church Songbook, that is, pious songs with melodies in the Catholic Church used. The famous melody was composed by Piotr StudziƄski in the middle of the 19th century.

In the text of the carol, the lyrical subject turns to the Savior lying in the manger, wondering if he chose a bar rather than staying in the sky or dwelling in the palace.
