Joseph Kornblum


Józef Kornblum (born 14 February 1917 in Pruchna, died 5 August 2009) is a Jewish writer, prose writer and journalist. Born in Cieszyn Silesia in the merchant family (parents ran a colonial shop), after graduating in 1935 junior high school went to Palestine, where he worked in workers' occupations. He lived in Israel, where he debuted as a writer at the age of 60. In his works he refers to the Cieszyn region. The memory of his childhood was included in the collection of short stories "From Vistula to Jordan". In 2002 he was awarded honorary citizenship of Cieszyn. That same year, Norbertinum published his collection of short stories, Israeli Pictures.
