smartmontools - a set of programs to support the subsystem S.M.A.R.T. Hard disks.

The smartmontools package consists of two smartctl and smartd programs. The first one is a universal tool for configuring, running, testing, and reading information from the disk. Daemon smartd is responsible for constant disk monitoring. These programs run under GNU / Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, Solaris, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The whole is available under the GNU General Public License.
