Macrosporangia are usually larger than microsporangia. They grow on leaves called macrosporophylls, often modified and different from other leaves.

Macrosporangia are found in different species of forks, in ferns from the order of salvinians, in the genus and in the genus. In the genus, the megasoprangium functions as a center in the gills.
