Maria Adelaide Hannover

Maria Adelaide Hannover

Maria Adelajda Wilhelmina Elzbieta Hanowerska (born 27 November 1833 in Hannover, died 27 October 1897 in White Lodge, Richmond Park, Surrey) is a member of the Royal Family, Princess Cambridge, Princess Teck.

Adolf's daughter and princess Augusta. Her grandparents were King George III and Charlotta Mecklenburg-Strelitz, and landowner Frederick II Heski and Karolina Polyxena von Nassau-Usingen.

Maria Adelaide was raised in Hannover where her parents were staying. She loved food and soon her weight became a cause for trouble finding her husband. At the age of 30 she still had no husband, so she decided to marry her with Francis, Prince Teck, who came from a morganatic relationship, which his chances for marriage were also small (but he was a member of the Württemberg family, who since the eleventh century ruled Württemberg). The wedding took place on June 12, 1866, the couple had 4 children: Maria Adelaide with children. Maria was paid £ 5,000 a year by the royal family, but the sumptuous life of the duke led to a debt that they could not repay. Maria had asked for her cousin, Queen Victoria, to receive a suite at Kensington Palace and the White Lodge estate. Despite, or rather the effect (escape of creditors) of continuous financial problems the couple left for a trip to Florence, Germany and Austria. This trip did not please Maria due to the unofficial nature of the trip (without the proper royal setting and under the name of the princes von Hohenstein). They returned to Great Britain in 1885. She took part in the duties of a royal family member and took part in charitable activities.

Her oldest daughter, Maria Teck, was engaged to Prince Albert, but unfortunately, a month after the engagement, the Prince died. Queen of Hanover, who sponsored her betrothal, convinced her younger brother Prince Albert, George to marry Princess Maria (only after the two listed between them). The wedding of the bride and groom improves the family's financial situation and also elevates her status. Four years after her daughter's marriage, Princess Maria Adelaide died in White Logde. She was buried in the chapel at Windsor Castle. Bibliography
