Abraham ben Joszijahu


Abraham ben Josiah (also Ben Josiah, born 1636 in Trakai, died 1687 or 1688) - a physician, scholar, poet and mystic Karaim. He was the court physician of Polish kings, including Jan III Sobieski. Hebrew dissertation and liturgical poetry.

He was born in 1636 in Trakai. Most of the information on his life and work comes from later writers. Author of medical treatises The Hebrew text of the Ocar ha-am (literary treasure of the nation) and the religious treatise Bejt Awraham (literary Abraham's House), as well as the Latin manuscript Pas Pas, devoted to various scientific issues. There are hymns in honor of his sabbath.
