Ahmad al-Arad ((Abu al-Abbas Ahmad al-A'arj ibn Muhammad al-Mahdi = Abu al-Abbas Ahmad al-Arad i ibn Muhammad al-Mahdi) - szejk rodu Sadytów w latach 1517-1544, syn szejka Abu Abdullaha Muhammada al-Kaima .

After the death of his father in 1517, Ahmad al-Aradj, along with his brother Muhammad Shazam, took over the leadership of the Saddu family. Having reestablished their dominance in southern Morocco, they began fighting the Wattasydas and desiring to master the Portuguese ports of Morocco. In 1524 Ahmad conquered Marrakech and surrendered to the Berbers of the Atlas Mountains. From here the south of Morocco was in the hands of the Saddens with Ahmad al-Ardah in Marrakech and Muhammad asz-Shajchem in Tarudant.

Attempts to seize Fez in the following years ended in failure, but the brothers managed to expel the Portuguese from Agadir and further strengthen their power in the south. In 1544, however, there was a struggle for power between the brothers, which resulted in Ahmad al-Aradj being forced to flee to the Wattasy. He supported Abu Hassun, the uncle of the last Sultan of Abu al-Abbas Ahmad, but he failed to stop the expansion of his brother, who in 1549 eventually took over Fez and proclaimed himself the sultan of Morocco. Ahmad al-Aradz of Abu Hassun with the help of the Osmanians briefly regained the city in 1554, yet in the same year Muhammad Ash-shay returned to the throne. Bibliography
