Cray T3D


Cray T3D - the first Cray Research supercomputer built on the concept of mass parallel processing (MPP). The server was launched in 1993. Building The Cray T3D MC 256 consisted of 256 "Processing Elements (PEs), each containing a 150 MHz Alpha processor (21064) and 8 to 64 MB of local memory. PE were connected together through a three-dimensional connection network, so that the system could be upgraded to 2048 processors. Cray T3D had to work only with Cray Y-MP or Cray C90. History

The successor to Cray T3D has been fully Cray T3E.
