Sergei Kowalow (constructor)
Sergei Nikitich Kovalov, Russian Сергей Никитич Ковалёв (born 15 April 1919 in Petrograd, died February 24, 2011 in St. Petersburg) is an engineer, chief designer of the CKB-18 design office (Rubin), designer of most of Soviet submarines nuclear. In 1937 he graduated from high school in Leningrad and later studied at the Leningrad Institute of Shipbuilding. In February 1942 he was evacuated to Gorki, later to Piatigorsk and Przewalsk. From 1943 he worked at the Central Construction Bureau No. 18 in Gorkim. In 1947 he was posted to Blankenburg in Germany. In 1948 he became assistant to the main constructor of the Special Design Bureau No 153, and in 1953 he worked in the Leningrad Central Construction Office "Rubin". In 1961 he became the chief designer of the submarine atomic project, in 1973 he received a doctorate in engineering sciences and in 2002 a professor. Bibliography
