Taifa (State)
States - in the year 1080
Taifa - Muslim states formed in the Iberian Peninsula (Arabic Al-Andalus) during the existence and after the disintegration of the Caliphate of Cordoba in 1031 and the Almoravid states in the twelfth century.
Taifs called the peoples of North Africa twice to fight the Christians. Fanatic Almoravids were invited after the fall of Toledo in 1085, and the Almohades after the loss of Lisbon in 1147. These radical Muslim states did not help the Muslim states of Spain, but also incorporated them into their empires.
During their glory, in the eleventh and twelfth centuries, the emperors of taif competed with each other not only in the military field, but also in the field of culture, supporting the well-known and valued poets and artists. As the Arab Muslims were only five percent of the population of Spain, the taverns were weak military, which led to the frequent victories of the Christian states. Since they often did not have the appropriate workforce and numbers, the capitulation obliged them to pay the annual tribute.
Major cities were Granada, Seville, Toledo, Saragossa, Badajoz, Denia, Ronda, Ceuta, AlmerÃa. At most one of them was twenty-one.
