Bismarck Tower in Chełmno - no longer exist Bismarck tower, located in Chełmno. History

The tower was founded on the initiative of the Association of the Eastern March and the Old German Alliance (1903). The project was designed in the shape of a Teutonic castle in Świecie by the Royal Architect of Construction Rambeau. For unknown reasons the work was stopped shortly after the start. They were resumed 6 years later by another project of unknown origin. As a contractor was employed master mason and carpenter Wilhelm Frucht. On March 30, 1909 construction began. On August 19, 1909, a solemn opening was held. In 1920 the tower was demolished by the Poles, and at its place was the Mound of Freedom (now non-existent, since commemorated by the commemorative plaque). Technical data Bibliography
