Jerzy Adamowicz


Jerzy Adamowicz (born 2 February 1908 in Minsk, died September 1939) is a Polish zoologist, malakologist.

After graduating from junior high school in Minsk he studied under the supervision of prof. Jan Grochmalicki in natural sciences at the University of Poznań in 1930-1934. In 1936 he obtained a master's degree in philosophy in zoology and comparative anatomy.

Since 1933 he was a demonstrator, and after obtaining a master's degree he was an assistant at the Department of Zoology at the University of Poznań. He worked in prof. Janem Grochmalicki, Antoni Jakubski and Kazimierz Simm.

He conducted a faunistic and ecological study on molluscs in Polesie. He conducted research on leeches occurring in Wielkopolska, but warfare destroyed the prepared work for printing.

He died when he attempted to move from the General Government to the USSR in September 1939. Bibliography
