Lloyd’s Coffee House


Lloyd's Coffee House - a small cafe owned by Edward Lloyd in London, at Lombard Street. In the years 1688-1726 a meeting place for merchants and shipowners, in which they were speculated in connection with maritime transport. Soon the cafe became the prototype of the parquet stock exchange.

Traditionally, to commemorate the birthplace of the assurance institution, up to the present day the people of the British insurance community have been called "Lloyds".
