The East House (Amsterdam)

Oost-Indisch Huis, an apartment building in the center of Amsterdam, serves today for administrative purposes.
The building was built in 1603 and its design is attributed to Henry de Keyser. Since 1605, the headquarters of the East India Company has been located here.
The front entrance doors are surrounded on two sides by the Tuscan columns. The peaks and shutters are decorated in Renaissance style, typical of Henry de Keyser. However, the building is rather impressive because of the windows, which give the impression of being barred. Only the decorative finials of the windows and balustrade bring some beauty and dynamism. The building is reminiscent of Amsterdam's splendor.
In 1625, West-Indisch Huis was set up in Amsterdam, and this campaign has never reached the East Indies. Meeting place of Heeren XVII managing Dutch East India Company
The East India Company also had its headquarters in Rotterdam, Delft, Enkhuizen and Hoorn. The building in Rotterdam was destroyed during the Rotterdam bombing.
