Eugene Stoner


Eugene Morrison Stoner (born November 22, 1922 in Gosport, Indiana, April 24, 1997 in Palm City, Florida) is an American weapons designer.

In Armalite, as the main constructor, M16, AR-10 and AR-15 assault rifles, which were the inspiration for the AR-18. He was later employed as a consultant at Colt Patent Firearm Corp. As part of the US SALW program in the early 1960s, he developed a set of unified small arms based on 16 standard units and mechanisms called the Stoner System.
