Ludwig Rehn (esesman)
Ludwig Rehn (born 1 July 1910 in Saarbrücken, DE) - SS-Obersturmführer, high ranking SS officer in concentration camps Sachsenhausen and Neuengamme.
Member of SS since 1935 (ID number 269927) and NSDAP since 1936. Since 1940 he served in Sachsenhausen, from where he was transferred in 1942 to Neuengamme. In August 1943 he returned to Sachsenhausen, where he remained until April 1945. In both camps he served as the Arbeitseinsatzfuhrer, the head of the forced labor department of the prisoners. In Sachsenhausen Rehn participated in the mass extermination of Soviet prisoners of war and prisoners of other nationalities. He also made selections that sent unfit prisoners to other camps for gassing (including Auschwitz-Birkenau). He also imposed cruel punishment on prisoners working in the so-called. "Schuhlaeuferkommando".
In the trial of Sachsenhausen, Rehn was convicted on 1 November 1947 by the Soviet Military Tribunal in Berlin for his crimes against life-and-death. The Soviet prison was released under amnesty in 1956. Bibliography
