Sven-Erik Olsson
Sven-Erik Olsson (born July 7, 1923 in Parnu, Estonia, March 7, 1985 in Arosa, Switzerland) - Swedish volunteer Waffen-SS during World War II.
His family was Swedish-Estonian. He attended a German school in Pärnu where he was a member of the Baltendeutschen Jugendorganisation. At the end of the 1930s he left for Germany. On November 8, 1939 he joined the SS. After training in the 16./(MG) SS-Totenkopf-Rekreuten-Standarte was assigned on 1 May 1940 to 9./SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 14. In May 1941 he was sent to the Netherlands to protect the coast. On June 1 this year he was promoted to SS-Unterführeranwäreter. It was then transferred to the Kommandostab Reichsführer SS. Served in various units of the Waffen-SS, receiving the SS-Unterscharführer on September 1, 1942. From February 1943 he served in the 2nd SS-Nachrichten-Abteilung 10 Company in the 10th SS Frundsberg. In May 1944 he was promoted to SS-Oberscharführer. Initially fought on the eastern front in Ukraine, and then with his unit was transferred to Normandy, where in August 1944 he was wounded. At the end of this year he again fought on the eastern front in Pomerania, in the area of Szczecin and Cottbus in Germany. He was taken to Soviet captivity, from which he was released in 1947. He resided in Sweden and then Switzerland, where he died on March 7, 1985.
He was decorated with Iron Cross 1 and 2.
