Ambigram
Ambigram Wikipedia words. Another ambigram of Wikipedia words.
Ambigram (Latin ambo + grámma) is a graphic created in a calligraphic or pictorial manner so that you can read the same or different text when you rotate the whole. In the Latin alphabet the only "naturally ambiguous" (ie, centered symmetric) letters are "H", "I", "N", "O", "S", "X" and "Z".
In mass culture they have been popularized by the book of angels and demons of Dan Brown, in which they play the role of successive symbols placed (or rather burned) on the bodies of the victims through the members of the Illuminati Brotherhood. According to Brown, the supposed founder of the six ambigrams was to be the chief architect of the Vatican, the Baroque artist, Bernini, but that is a dubious proposition.
For the purposes of the book, the ambigrams were created by John Langdon, a well-known artist who named his main character Robert Langdon.
