Drita Çomo

Drita Çomo - (born 1958 in Tirana - died 19 February 1981 in Tirana) - Albanian poet. Curriculum vitae

Her parents (Maqo Çomo and Liri Belishova) belonged to the leadership of the Albanian Labor Party until the end of the 1950s. In an atmosphere of deteriorating Albanian-Soviet relations, in November 1960 both were accused of espionage for the benefit of the USSR and the betrayal of the Albanian Party. Maqo Çomo was sentenced to 30 years in prison, while Liri Belishova, with her two-year-old daughter, was interned in Kuç near Vlory and then in Progonat. Cërrik was the third and last place of internment. There, Drita graduated from high school, but due to progressive cancer she did not graduate. At age 23, she died at a hospital in Tirana.

During the last years of her life she ran a diary, a record of events related to her stay in a secluded place. She also left dozens of poems, created in the years 1975-1981, which are a record of suffering, pain and fascination with youth. A collection of her works appeared in Tirana, on the twentieth anniversary of her death. Works published Bibliography
