GNU Zebra
GNU Zebra - free software under the GNU GPL, an implementation of TCP / IP based routing protocols. It supports traditional RIP, OSPF and BGP protocols as well as IPv6.
Zebra is written modularly, each routing protocol occurs as a separate process in the system. The configuration of individual routing protocols is done using a syntax very similar to the syntax used on Cisco devices. The Zebra project was initiated by Kunihiro Ishiguro.
The GNU Zebra software is no longer being developed, the latest stable version is 0.95a and was released 2005-09-08. Still, there are still a lot of routers based on GNU / Linux or BSD that work just fine with Zebra. The unofficial successor of the GNU Zebra project is Quagga, which is based on Zebra code and is still actively being developed.
