John Chochorowski
Jan Chochorowski (born 1949) - Polish archaeologist, director of the Institute of Archeology in the years 1996 - 2008 Its main research interests are the origins of Scythians and their spread in Eastern Europe and the role of early nomadic peoples (Kimmer, Scythians) in the cultural development of Central European communities.
Among other things he conducted excavation research of complexes of early iron age in Mielniki in Ukraine and the complex of Łubowice-Brzeźnica. His most famous achievement was the discovery in 1996 of a tomb of a Scythian ruler in the so- Great Kurhanie Ryzanowski in Ryzanowka in Ukraine, for which he was honored with Golden Shovel - a prestigious award for the greatest discovery made by Polish archaeologists in the world and its promotion - in 2000.
